UPSC CMSE Notification 2026, for 1358 Medical Officer Posts: Application Dates & Exam Schedule

The Union Public Service Commission has officially released the UPSC CMSE Notification on 11th March 2026 for the Combined Medical Services Examination. This recruitment exam at the national level has been conducted for the recruitment of eligible and qualified medical professionals in various central government health services. Eligibility Details

Applicants have to fulfil certain criteria in terms of their nationality, educational qualifications, and age before applying.

• Applicants should be citizens of India or subjects of Nepal or Bhutan or persons of Indian origin migrating from countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Ireland, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Malawi, Myanmar and Zaire.
• Applicants should have cleared the final MBBS examination from a recognised university in the written as well as practical sections.
• Applicants who have not cleared the compulsory rotational internship may apply, but they have to complete the internship before their appointment.
• Applicants appearing in the final MBBS examination may apply provisionally, but they have to submit the proof of their qualification after the results of the written examination.
• The maximum age limit is 35 years for the post of medical officers in the Central Health Service.
• The maximum age limit is 32 years for the posts of Assistant Divisional Medical Officer, General Duty Medical Officer, etc.
• There is relaxation in the maximum age limit for reserved category candidates like SC, ST, OBC, PwBD and ex-servicemen.
